dream street.

On Friday, March 26 I attended ‘Dream Street’ – an annual dinner gala in support of The Charity of Hope, Hamilton.

The Charity of Hope is a non-profit organization that has supported less fortunate children, living in the Hamilton area, since 1999. What makes this company special, is that 100% of the funds raised through Charity of Hope, go to the children in need.

With their assistance being able to reach the troubled youth in less than 72 hours, this organization provides Hamilton children with more than hope, but also grants them a positive future.

The 2010 keynote speaker for the event was co-founder of Free The Children, Craig Kielburger.

Angered over an article he read in the Toronto Star, Keilburger began Free The Children at only 12 years old.

After its foundation in 1995, Free The Children has become one of the worlds largest, youth-driven charities. Along with brother Marc, the Kielburger duo have empowered thousands of youth across North America to take action, challenging a generation to make a positive change.

“Free The Children has built more than 500 schools throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America, providing daily education to more than 50, 000 children.”

Kielburger is also the Director and Co-Founder of Me to We.

Listening to this amazing speaker, you can’t help but become inspired.

What good have I done over the last 20 years?

Be a catalyst of positive change.

Chloë in Wonderland

Chloë Sevigny was shot by Pavel Havlicek for the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar Russia.

I love Sevigny, especially when photographed in an Alice themed spread. When will this obsession with Wonderland end?

You can climb back up the rabbit hole now, please.

temporary bliss.

Today, we found them.

This afternoon, Karizza and I left journalism class a bit early in order to prepare for this evenings grammar exam. Feeling pretty down, due to our lack of enthusiasm for anything grammar related, to say we were excited about the day would be an understatment.

That is, until we got a call from one of Karizza’s friends.

“What! OMG, No way! Are you sure? Ok, Ok … I’m coming right now,” squealed Karizza as we walked out of the RCC.

Ok, so I thought, someone’s in trouble? Someone has died? Car accident? Something, bad?

Something amazing!

One subway ride and ten minutes later we found ourselves at Holt’s, purchasing what we have been waiting all season for … Chanel Temporary Tattoos S/S 2010.

Exclusive to Holt Renfrew’s Bloor St location, Canada was sent only 500 packages of these bad boys.

With 22 tattoos in a pack, there are so many different combinations of designs to try out!

Finally inked … temporarily at least.

shiloh 2021?

I want you to think back to when you were 15 years old. You probably had braces, frizzy hair, wore knee socks with tennis shoes (a friend, who I won’t name, actually disclosed this information to me today) and had teenage acne.

Sounds about average, right?

Well, not if you’re Angelina Jolie it doesn’t.

Images from Jolie’s first photo shoot have surfaced and are to be auctioned off on Friday afternoon, in California. The 15- year-old was shot by photographer Harry Langdon. Jolie is photographed in an array of outfits- dressed in a leopard-print dress, jean shorts, a crop top and bikini she actually looks quite current.

Can one be eternally frozen as their 15-year-old self? I’m starting to believe they can.

I need some anti-aging cream, stat.

ps. Two years later, I know you’re gone, but I can still feel you here.

bare it all.

Spring is in the air, everywhere we look around. Sorry, I had to.

One of my favorite trends for spring 2010 is going nude. The pale palette is perfect, it looks refreshing this season. From beige to eggshell, the look has so much range that everyone can find their perfect shade.

Find the perfect nude trench, or shoe, or dress for this amazing weather.

You’ll feel naked without it.

mad hatter(s)

Everyone is jumping on the Alice and Wonderland bandwagon lately, non? I’m not complaining, I mean I love the whimsical feeling of Alice inspired looks. So pretty. So feminine.

John Galliano infused a little of the Mad Hatter into Christian Dior Fall RTW 2010.

Someone throw a tea party, I’ve found my perfect outfit.

On another note, Julianne and I went to see Remember Me this weekend.

Okay, we are Pattinson fans. Fine, whatever.

All feelings aside, you need to see this movie.. Within the first five minutes you’re emotionally attached … hooked for the next 2 hours.

We know a brilliant movie when we see one, and Remember Me was magnificent.

There were moments of tears, just sayin’

simply beautiful.

Alexander McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection was revealed today. The modest sized collection had only 16 pieces, which were completed by McQueen’s desgin staff after the designers death.

The collection was shown in private, to a small group of select fashion journalists and close friends- a show being described as a  “tribute to the mastery of McQueen.”

Pieces included themes of religious undertones, glittering embellishments and rich, ethic feeling.

There’s definitely a serious, darker side felt throughout the collection, but it’s just simply beautiful.

Long live McQueen.

my friend oscar

I’ve been waiting for this since I saw the trailer for An Education months ago. After watching 1o films in the span of a month or so, I was finally ready … bring on the Academy.

War drama, The Hurt Locker took home Oscar’s largest honor, Sunday night at the 82nd Academy Awards. Along with Best Picture, the film won 5 other prizes, including Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow.

Not only is this Bigelow’s first Oscar, she is also the first woman in the history of the awards show to win in a directorial role.

“There’s no other way to describe it. It’s the moment of a lifetime,” said Bigelow, upon receiving her award at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, last night.

Bigelow beat her ex-husband, the Canadian James Cameron, in both Best Director and Best Picture categories. Cameron was nominated for his work in Avatar.

More of the night’s big winners include Jeff Bridges for Best Actor in Crazy Heart, Sandra Bullock for Best Actress in The Blind Side, Mo’Nique for Best Supporting Actress in Precious and Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds.

But what about the red carpet? The pre-game as I like to call it.

2010 favorites include:

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa

Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel

* note her Chanel Spring 2010 temporary tattoos. yesss*

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab Haute Couture

Katy Perry in Zuhair Marad
Vanity Fair After-Party

Is it just me, or have the dresses this awards season been a bit lack-luster?

I mean they are nice … but not amazing?
